Grammgenau
( What the app does )
A calorie calculator for athletes that gets a bit more accurate every week.
A calorie calculator usually gives you one number, and then you're on your own. Grammgenau works out your daily target from your body, your everyday life and your training, and then checks in every week: does this still fit? The app compares your answer with your weigh-ins and what you ate, and learns from it. Your data stays on your device.

How it works
-
Working out your calories
The onboarding (not quite finished yet) starts with the usual questions: weight, height, age and biological sex. Then the app wants to know how much you move in everyday life, how much you train and what your goal is. From that, Grammgenau works out your daily target, and everything else builds on that number.

Logging food
You just search for what you ate and enter the grams. The app knows the German food database (Bundeslebensmittelschlüssel) and loads of brand products, and you can find those by barcode too. If you make a typo, search still finds the right thing. On “Heute” (today) you then see right away how much you have left.

Does your target fit?
Once a week the app asks you: are you losing, gaining, or does everything fit? It puts that next to your weigh-ins and what you ate. Over time, it figures out what you really need and suggests a new target. The more often you answer, the more accurate it gets. That's where the name comes from, too: “grammgenau” means accurate to the gram.

Updates on Grammgenau
All updates-
The first version you can use
- You set up a profile and get your daily calorie target.
- You log your food in grams, from the German food database.
- “Heute” (today) asks every week whether your target fits and adjusts it. There's a little animated scale, too.
-
Now it looks like a pocket calculator
- “Heute” (today) and “Essen” (food) now have the calculator look, with keys for the meals, a calorie bar and macro icons that fill up.
- You can find products by barcode now.
- You log your weight and see the last few weeks in a history. Forgot a day? Just add it later.
- Search got a lot smarter. It understands everyday words like “Käse” (cheese), forgives typos and finds brand products without internet, too. What you eat often is right at the top.
-
A target from the weight trend
- The target now uses the smoothed trend of your weigh-ins, so a day with a lot of water in your body doesn't throw it off anymore.
